Page 4 - In this Board is vested the supreme control of the University. The second regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held in Oxford, July 14, 1845. The Board accepted two halfsections of land lying immediately west of the town of Oxford, the south half of section 20, and the north half of section 29, township 8, range 3 W., which had been purchased by citizens of Oxford and Lafayette County and donated to the State for the location of the University.
