Whilst this coincidence will, it is hoped, go far to show that in changing the customary arrangement of the subject, the author has not de vinted unnecessarily from the beaten track; he may be permitted also to regard it as a circum stance favourable to the course that has been chosen; since we must certainly view in that light, the fact, that writers whose methods of obtaining their object did not appear to lead them into the mine route, have followed it to so great an extent. This unexpected result was found useful in en abling the writer to avoid, what could not be permitted.
