Give the process. 2.-A man gave to three charitable purposes the following sums: to one sixteen dollars, to another fifteen, to anothertwelve, and reserved ten dollars for his own use; how many did he give away, and how many had he at first? 3.-A boy gave twelve cents for a slate, three cents for pencils, six cents for oranges, seven cents for gingerbread, and had nine cents left; how many cents did he pay away, and how many had he at first? 4.-A boy gave ten cents for buffalo skin to make a pair of mittens, and a bushel of ashes, worth eight cents, for the making: he sold them for twenty cents; what did his mittens cost him, and how much did he gain by his bargain? Give the process. 2.-A boy is to receive twenty cents a day, for one week, for every day he works, and is to pay his employer ten cents a day for every day he plays: he works four days and plays three; how many cents has he at the end of the week? 3.-A man purchases a horse for twenty-five dollars, and a wagon for eighteen; how much does he give for the horse and wagon; and how much more for the horse than the wagon? 4.-A man purchases a tub of butter for seventeen dollars, a hundred pounds of sugar for nine dollars, a hundred pounds of coffee for eleven dollars; how much does he pay for the whole; and how much more for the sugar and coffee than for the butter? 5.-A pound of hops costs ten cents, and a pound of tea fifty, and a pound of rice eight; what cost the whole; and how much more does the tea cost than the hops and the rice?
