After coming back from Vietnam in 1969, I bought a AirCycle in NW Iowa thinking to start a franchise dealership. They were around $1700 as I recollect with the drop trailer. No one in the area had ever seen anything like it. Designed with a huge propeller that was powered by a J/Lo snowmobile engine, it was designed to control the airflow with a damper that diverted air flow under the body which pushed it several inches off the ground and then once off the ground manipulating the damper gave forward motion.
It was fun as you go over the ground, over snow and over water. Vinyl or rubber flaps around the body maintained a cushion of air giving it the utility to do this unusual capability. Made in Troy, NY, it was solid but the flaps were attached with some 3M adhesive which didn't make the flaps adhere.
I understand the company went out of business some years ago but was fun when it worked.

Found background information on a air-cushion vehicle I had once owned in a Popular Science Issue dated Mar. 1970. What a wonderful magazine this has been over the years.............a five star rating from me !
